IEA PVPS Task 15: Enabling Framework for the Acceleration of BIPV Fase 2

The aim of the project is to accelerate the deployment of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) through the identification and resolution of technical, aesthetic and financial issues.

The goal is to increase the spread of BIPV in the global renewable energy market, so that it becomes competitive with BAPV products and other types of climate screens.

Experience and results can be used by builders, architects, manufacturers, and will help to achieve well-integrated and economically advantageous BIPV solutions.

Project description

In 2015, IEA PVPS established the international cooperation 'Task 15' to accelerate the use of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV).

The project contributes to the ambition to realize energy-neutral buildings, and includes new and existing buildings, various PV technologies, and ranges from single-family houses to commercial buildings.

Task 15 has just been completed and is followed by phase 2, as there are still a number of tasks to be solved. For example, the BIPV book with international examples is followed by of a BIPV guidebook; and business models for housing and office buildings are complemented by business models for industrial buildings.

Subtask fase 2:

• Develop overall business plan for BIPV industry buildings

• Analyse performance of selected BIPV-cases and disseminate best practice.

• BIPV guidebook: from BIPV design to installation, operation, maintenance and safety.

• Examine existing BIPV simulation tools, work processes and digital (BIM) models.

• Uncover characteristics that unite requirements for BIPV worldwide to facilitate local / national building component approval.

• Establish rules for environmental assessment of BIPV systems.

• Communication. Expansion of international database established in the first part of the project.

Results can be downloaded on the IEA PVPS website as they are published. A Danish website will also be established.
