GreenSite
The aim is reducing electricity consumption for telesites by 15% and reduce costs by a further 2% through peak shaving with local battery storage and renewable energy integration, making sites an active player in balancing the electricity grid. The aim is to create the future green site, where technological solutions are developed into one product.
GreenSite will be the first product on the market to offer a comprehensive system optimization of energy consumption in mobile network base stations. GreenSite offers AI-based energy optimization across com-ponents, redesigned system cooling that eliminates the need for inefficient and noisy fan cooling, as well as intelligent use of battery packs and possible VE integration for peak shaving and active balancing of the power grid.
The combination of the developed hard and software solutions in a single product, will result in energy sav-ings of 15% and a further 2% saving on energy costs from intelligent consumption. For project partner TTN alone, the project will result in energy savings around 26.000 GWh, with a corresponding CO2-reduction of 3.500 MT annually.
The high level of energy savings in combination with an economically optimized product design mean, that the environmental impact is achieved in parallel with significant cost savings, with a pay-back time of just three years.
GreenSite is developed by experienced players in the telecommunications sector in collaboration with lead-ing network operators and domain experts from DTU – and the project has already before start-up gained the attention of leading operators at home and abroad.
