Power Curve, the Technical University of Denmark and Statkraft collaborate in order to develop a trailing edge serration product for wind turbine blades that offers increased noise reduction fea-tures compared to similar products that are on the market. The serration product will be available as a load neutral add-on for existing wind turbines.

Project description

There is an increasing demand for noise reduction solutions for wind turbines. Wind turbine operators are demanding increased levels of noise reduction than in the past. Power Curve, a company developing and offering upgrade solutions for wind turbines, offers a trailing edge serration product for noise reduction as add-on to existing wind turbine blades, but the performance of this current serration product will soon not be sufficient to meet the demand. Power Curve in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and Statkraft have the goal of developing an optimised serration product that meets current and future de-mands of noise reduction. The Institute of Wind and Energy Systems at DTU consists of 400 employees working with topics related to wind energy. A group within the institute has 10+ years of experience within the field of wind turbine aeroacoustics. DTU will provide software tools as well as experimental facilities to support and assist Power Curve in the development of the serration product. Statkraft is a leading energy company with a large portfolio of wind parks. Statkraft will provide the site for full scale validation of the new product and ensure that it meets the demands of wind farm operators.
