IEA OES Task 10 Fase III – WEC Modellering
The purpose is to verify and validate numerical design and power production calculations, with the following long-term goals:
1. To establish confidence in the use of numerical WEC models
2. To identify uncertainty related to simulation methodologies
3. To establish well-validated industry standards for evaluating WEC concepts.
IEA-OES Task 10 is a task under the Technology Collaboration Program on Ocean Energy Systems (OES) under the International Energy Agency (IEA) on numerical modelling of Wave Energy Converters. The objective of Task 10 is to improve industry confidence in the numerical tools used for the design and prediction of power production from Wave Energy Converters (WECs). As part of Task 10, several WEC concepts are modelled – and thereby the project will help build confidence in the performance of selected types of wave energy converters.
Denmark is leading and coordinating the work with the international partners in the Task 10 group. This EUDP project supports Denmark as the coordinator of the Task 10 group and helps the Danish partners initiate and develop the task to satisfy the above stated goals. The work by the Danish partners is done in close cooperation with the Danish Partnership for Wave Power, which represents all relevant Danish wave energy actors. Hereby the developed tools and methods are made directly accessible to the Danish industry.
